Kiss Cutting
Also known as kiss die cutting, kiss cutting is a form of die cutting in which a gasket or seals pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backed material is partially, but not completely, cut through. A very light impression of the steel rule die cuts through the peel-off portion of pressure sensitive labels, but not through its backing material, allowing for a “peel and stick” application of the gasket or seal upon use. Kiss cutting is a perfect solution for clients that require the ability to frequently adhere their gaskets or seals in the final production process of their product, such as in the automotive industry for vibration control applications. The kiss cut gaskets and seals can be rolled up on their self-adhesive paper or plastic liner for convenient dispensing or storage. Gaskets and seals made of foam, rubber, sponge, neoprene and various other materials can be kiss die cut.
Kiss cutting allows for easier shipment of gaskets and seals, and lessens risk of damage during transportation. A.J. Any kiss cutting job can be customized so that only the final pieces are attached to the release liner; the scrap material can easily be removed so that only useable gaskets and seals remain on the roll for convenience. Kiss-cutting is available for all adhesive backed pieces, or for non-adhesive materials that come pre-cast on a paper release liner.
